COVID-19: A Letter From Our CEO On How Solar Energy World is Handling COVID-19

First, we want everyone to know that SEW is continuing to provide installation services during this challenging time, as we are maintaining the safety and essential operation of customer residences by providing electricity.

Solar Energy World’s Priority is the health and safety of our customers and employees.

We are committed to reducing the risk of COVID-19 while still enabling people to go solar, which provides certainty and safety for families during this uncertain time. SEW is working to ensure that our workforce is following the latest recommendations from public health authorities. We are watching this each day and will continue to monitor it very closely.

Going solar with SEW involves much less contact and time than you might think, and much of our work- from surveying rooftops, to permitting, to installation- happens behind the scenes. SEW has also invested in technology to limit person-to-person contact. Below are some of the tools we already use:

While we expect most customers to still prefer in-home consultations, our field sales force can conduct virtual home consultations for customers utilizing video conferencing technology and DocuSign electronic signature tools. Should you prefer these options, simply let us know.

Similar to our solar consultations, we have invested in technology to streamline our installation processes, including online permitting and interconnection in many locations. These tools and processes allow us to keep your project moving without needing regular in-person meetings and reviews. We manage everything for you in the background.

COVID-19 is a new and unique challenge, and we’re constantly evaluating best practices for our customers and employees. We’re following public health guidelines and other best practices recommended by medical experts from across the country.

Here are some of the precautions we have committed to:

  • Ensuring our employees are healthy and not coming to work if they are sick.
  • Training employees to follow best practices to reduce the risk of potential exposure, including guidelines on handwashing, device cleaning and sanitation, social distancing, and understanding and recognizing signs of symptoms.
  • Securing our workspaces. This includes increasing the frequency of vehicle and office cleaning and sanitizing, and following the best practices recommended by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention and the World Health Organization.
  • We have several team members that are now working from home to greatly reduce the amount of people in our offices daily.
  • Our solar analysts and crew members alike will refrain from shaking hands with homeowners (and each other).
  • Monitoring the situation. We formed a cross-functional task force to create and adapt policies that will keep our customers and employees as safe as possible.

We are also asking our customers to support us in preventing transmission. If you are ill or have recently traveled to severely impacted areas, we will happily accommodate you in transitioning your sale consultation to occur virtually or rescheduling an installation or site visit when necessary.

During these difficult and uncertain times, we are reminded now of how important it is to take steps necessary to safeguard ourselves and our families. Going solar provides more energy security and gives us peace of mind for the future. We look forward to guiding you through this process.

Best Regards,
Geoff Mirkin
