Washington D.C. Solar Incentives, Grants, Rebates, and Tax Credits

Learn about all the ways you can cash in on big savings to help offset the cost of solar panel installation in D.C.

D.C. Solar Energy System Personal Property Tax Credit

The Solar Energy System and Cogeneration System Personal Property Tax Credit is available for D.C. residents interested in solar. When you install solar panels on your home, you are 100% exempt from paying any resulting increases in property taxes.

D.C. Solar Advantage Plus Program

The district’s Solar Advantage Plus Program is a first-come, first-serve D.C. solar rebate program for low-income residents. Those who are qualified get up to $10,000 to cover the installation costs of a 3-4kW to solar panel system. Participants own the system and can sell the resulting Solar Renewable Energy Certificates (SRECs).

D.C. Solar Renewable Energy Certificates (SRECs)

Washington D.C. residents who own solar panel systems have the option to earn hundreds of dollars each year by selling the excess power they generate back to the grid. At Solar Energy World, we calculate how much excess energy you are likely to generate, and we will set up the automatic system to earn and sell your D.C. Solar Renewable Energy Certificates (SRECs)

Net Metering in D.C.

Another D.C. solar incentive is net metering. Homeowners and business owners can get a financial credit applied to their electric bills when they produce excess solar energy. For D.C. property owners, this means that credits generated during the summer can often offset higher electric bills in the winter.
